Job Summary:
Assesses clients/patients/residents and designs occupational therapy treatments. Helps clients develop, maintain, and recover their ability to perform tasks in their daily occupations. Conducts evaluations and provides interventions for those with functional, cognitive, or behavioral impairments. Evaluates physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial abilities, develops therapy goals, and administers appropriate programs. Documents information, establishes therapeutic plans, and modifies them as needed. Provides education to enhance understanding and improve outcomes. Uses age-appropriate treatments and incorporates current research into daily practice. Treats individuals of all ages with various diagnoses and disorders, ensuring documentation complies with departmental and regulatory standards. Follows clinical guidelines, exhibits flexibility with schedules, and participates in departmental and organizational activities. May supervise assistants, aides, and students, and provide ongoing education to peers. Work may focus on post-acute, long-term care, or home health environments depending on the facility.
Qualifications:
Appropriate education level per state licensure. Must be licensed in the state of practice. Certification through NBCOT is preferred. Valid driver’s license may be required. Must obtain and maintain required competencies and certifications, including BLS within 60 days. New graduates with temporary licenses may be considered in some states.
