SALARY
$6,488.00 – $12,152.00 per month (Range A – D)
JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES Under the direction of the District Office Engineer Branch Chief, a Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent is responsible for:
Preparation of specifications, special provisions and non‑standard special provisions
Quality assurance (QA) review of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
Participation in pre‑P&E to DOE (M300) activities
Preparation and processing of a complete PS&E package, completing various forms and entering database information for submittal to the Division of Engineering Service Office Engineer (DES‑OE), leading to a biddable and buildable project
Incumbent will train new staff in the Office Engineer process and perform support duties involved with the preparation of various engineering reports, cost estimates and value analysis reviews. Must work independently and as a team member during project development. Possession of a valid California Drivers License is required when operating a state‑owned vehicle. Registration as a California Professional Civil Engineer is required for Range D.
WORKING CONDITIONS Employee will be headquartered in Marysville and will be required to travel for meetings and training. Work occurs in both a climate‑controlled office and outdoors where exposure to dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and/or extreme heat or cold may occur. Periodic travel and overnight travel required. Possession of a driver’s license required. Telework may be allowed at departmental discretion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) required. Provide CDL number, class, expiration date, and endorsements.
Professional Engineering License (Civil) required for Range D.
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required: typed, no more than two pages, 12‑point Arial font.
Additional required items: State Examination/Employment Application STD 678, unofficial transcripts or diplomas if applying on education basis, foreign transcript equivalency report if applicable.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS See Class Specification. Minimum Qualifications include degree, experience, and licenses as listed in the Class Specification.
