Title: Transportation Engineer (Civil) Department: Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Location: 464 West 4th St, San Bernardino, CA 92401 Salary: $6,488.00 - $12,152.00 per Month Final Filing Date: 11/18/2025 Working Title: Transportation Engineer (Civil) Classification: Transportation Engineer (Civil) Responsibilities
Perform engineering duties in the Traffic Operations Division, monitoring and managing traffic conditions on the State Highway System. Relay information to the public and partners, investigate public concerns related to traffic congestion and safety. Initiate projects to address traffic concerns and work with regional and local partners on traffic safety, operational issues and management strategies. Ensure proposed activities and construction are reviewed and constructed in accordance with Department policies and guidelines. Qualifications
Applicants must review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification and meet Pattern II requirements. If you require the TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam, do not take the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Special Requirements
Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle. How to Apply
