Mortgage Field Services Inspector
Join FAR INSPECTIONS as a Mortgage Field Services Inspector. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications for mortgage lenders.
As an independent contractor, you will earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience in mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose is to verify property occupancy, report on general condition through a mobile application, and, in about 10% of cases, capture interior photos after a property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Most inspections are exterior only and should take 5-6 minutes.
Complete each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report overall property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the app.
Spend extended periods driving and making multiple stops within the assigned territory.

Computer with internet connection
Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary by county and volume. While paid per inspection, you can earn approximately $30–$40 per hour.
Depending on county and urban/rural status, you may complete between 20 and 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. Work volume is consistent month to month. You can earn more as you become established, available for more inspections, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
