Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections is hiring highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. As an independent contractor you can earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. No prior experience required; strong time‑management and deadline‑meeting skills are essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the inspection is to verify property occupancy, report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application, and, in some cases, take interior photos after the property becomes vacant. Most inspections are exterior only.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
Submit the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the inspection app.
Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops in your assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with reliable internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate; rates vary by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, the equivalent earnings range from $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month while working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties pay higher rates; higher‑volume counties pay lower rates. Work is consistent month to month.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
