Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR INSPECTIONS FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. We are based in Reno, NV and have been in business for over nine years.
Job Overview As an independent contractor you will earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management and meeting deadlines are essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to conduct inspections. The purpose of the property inspection is: to verify property occupancy and to report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level, so you will be responsible for completing all inspections in your county. In some cases you may split the county with another inspector if volume warrants it.
Responsibilities
Verify property occupancy and report on the general condition using a mobile application.
Complete most inspections within 5–6 minutes and finish them within 4 days after assignment.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments and complete a short form in the app.
Spend extended periods driving with multiple stops throughout the day in your assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay & Hours This 1099 position pays a flat rate per inspection, varying by county and volume. You will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on county, you may complete 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates, while higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.
Benefits No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
