FAR INSPECTIONS
Overview
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. This independent contractor position offers predictable income, a flexible schedule, and the opportunity to work full‑time or supplemental hours from your base in Reno, NV.
Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and drive extensively is essential.
What is an Occupancy Verification Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. Inspections verify property occupancy and report general condition through a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior; about 10% require interior photos after a property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections in 5‑6 minutes on average and within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property condition and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Drive extended periods while making numerous stops within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage.
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. The average hourly earnings are approximately $30‑$40.
Workload ranges from 20 to 500 inspections per month, with 2‑30 hours per week, depending on county density. There is no minimum; earnings increase with volume and territory coverage. No mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
