Overview
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders in Reno, NV. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but you must manage time, meet deadlines, and be able to drive extensively.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only, about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Most common type of inspection should only take 5‑6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, varying by county and volume. Though paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour . Depending on county and terrain, you could complete 20‑500 inspections per month, working 2‑30 hours per week. Earn more as you become established, increase availability, or cover a larger territory. No mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
