Lead CT Technologist – UC Davis Under general supervision, the Lead CT technologist coordinates department workflow to ensure maximum efficiency, assumes primary responsibility in the absence of the supervisor, reviews protocols annually and updates as directed, coordinates staff education and provides instruction, serves as a preceptor for new staff, and assumes responsibility for staff competence during orientation and annual review. The role includes image quality review, reporting, leading the technologist council, and leading equipment/IT issues (EMR, PACS).

Key Responsibilities

Manage CT technologist examinations and duties (≈50%).

Lead CT technologist duties (≈25%) including protocols, dose reduction and image quality for CT scanners.

Perform general departmental functions (≈25%) such as patient coordination, acquisition, processing, archiving, and workflow oversight.

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).

Basic Life Support (AHA, Red Cross or UC Davis CPR) and ARRT (R) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

ARRT (CT) credential.

IV certification within 6 months of hire.

Extensive CT technologist experience and ability to operate CT equipment to provide quality images.

Demonstrated lead experience in a healthcare/medical setting with similar duties.

Knowledge and ability to operate radiology equipment and auxiliary equipment.

Adaptability to new programs and equipment upgrades.

Strong judgment in following rules, protocols, policies and procedures.

Calm under multiple directions and fluctuating work volume.

Ability to handle high patient volume in a high‑pressure department.

Comprehensive knowledge of radiology principles and practices.

Flexibility with scheduling changes throughout the day.

Basic nursing skills and CPR.

Clear communication skills.

Organizational skills to prioritize workload.

Quick response in emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Contrast administration experience.

Experience performing similar duties in a level‑one trauma center.

Salary: $61.79 – $79.92 per hour.

Work Environment UC Davis is a smoke‑ and tobacco‑free campus. Variable hours, shift work, overtime, evening and holiday coverage, and travel to other UCD imaging facilities are required.
