Job Summary The Research Specialist II will manage the operations of the molecular and cellular biology laboratory at the FIU Center for Translational Sciences in Port St. Lucie, FL. Duties include performing experiments such as cell culture, qPCR, IHC, Western blot, and data analysis to support pulmonary disease research, maintaining lab inventory, supervising trainees, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.

Perform cellular and molecular biology experiments to produce data for publication.

Manage lab operations, including ordering and maintaining inventory of equipment, chemicals, and other materials.

Maintain and manage mouse colonies, breeding and genotyping to ensure colony sustainability.

Prepare SOPs and secure protocol approvals from IACUC, IBC, EHS, and IRB when required.

Assist in developing lab procedures and provide training in routine lab procedures and safety protocols.

Oversee setup, breakdown, and maintenance of lab equipment, ensuring quality control.

Manage collection, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with EPA guidelines.

Collaborate with faculty and administrative personnel to evaluate and purchase lab equipment.

Supervise high school students during summer camp, if required.

Perform other related duties as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field with four (4) years of experience, or Master's degree with two (2) years of experience.

Desired Qualifications

Experience performing molecular and cellular biology experiments.

Experience working with laboratory animals.

Advertised Salary $65,475 - $75,000

Work Schedule Begin time: 8:30 AM – End time: 5:00 PM
