What to Expect
Tesla Energy's SCADA team is looking for a Senior SCADA Engineer with a deep knowledge of the electrical grid and a passion to solve challenging problems programmatically. The Senior SCADA Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end design and deployment of the SCADA solution for Tesla's utility sites. You will be the owner of the hardware and software features that encapsulate the monitoring and control schemes, data acquisition, and user interface for a project. As a key member of the team, you will help to shape the success of our projects in various applications worldwide. You must have a genuine passion for engineering products that will fundamentally change the world's energy infrastructure and want to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
What You\'ll Do
Overall owner for the SCADA scope on Tesla's utility sites as well as technical point of contact both internally and externally for Tesla's communication and control architecture
Technical Subject Matter Expert on the control system functions; hardware and software interfaces with external systems on sites; product and external approved applications
Interface with utilities/system operators globally to understand, define, disseminate project requirements and identify project solutions, feed the information back to the engineering organization to enable and define a standardized platform/solution for project cost reduction and supportability
Support the Sales Engineering team and Business Development team to assess and price new/custom features during the RFP/bid process
Support system and regression testing of new features
Review SCADA drawings from site, design monitoring and control schemes, define tags/points list, program SCADA and Balance of Plant devices on site, like HMI, Historian, controllers etc.
Support the Network Operations team to design and deploy the Networking schemes on site
Support configuration of functional and performance testing for the SCADA system on site
Develop documentation and training for internal and external stakeholders
What You\'ll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
Working knowledge of monitoring and control requirements of electrical utility customers and OEMs
Strong understanding of communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC-104, OPC, IEC 61850
Working understanding of solar/BESS control system algorithms and schemes
Working knowledge of programming using 61131-3 (must), Python, Golang, and C/C++
Working knowledge of industrial networking and experience in basic network troubleshooting
Must be self-motivated and passionate for problem solving

Expected Compensation $133,440 - $246,720/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
