Third Time Together - Sous Chef
Boston – Brighton
Posted on December 5, 2025
Position Overview We’re looking for a sous chef with a passion for hospitality and food service to join our vibrant cafe/ice cream shop at the Charles River Speedway in Brighton as we expand to Kendall Square / East Cambridge. This leadership position combines kitchen management with hands‑on cooking, guiding our team while maintaining our commitment to exceptional guest experiences.
About Third Time Together We are hospitality‑first. Everything at Third Time starts and ends with the guest experience and how we can make that the best possible experience. Throw away your ideas of what an ice cream shop or a quick‑serve restaurant are; think instead about what they can be and then let’s work together to make that a reality. We were recently awarded Best of Boston and we’re opening a second location in One Kendall Square. This is your chance to join a young, award‑winning concept at a pivotal moment and help shape what comes next.
Who We Are Looking For The most important thing is who you are as a person. We are looking for the kind of person who runs after a stranger on the street to return a dropped scarf, who stops by with a plate of cookies to welcome a new family to the neighborhood, or who offers to help carry a stranger’s heavy stroller up the subway stairs. The kind of truly hospitable person, in other words, who wants to do good things, not for financial gain or some sort of karmic bump, but because the idea of bestowing graciousness upon others makes their own day better. This quality is what we do at Third Time Together. For the right candidate, everything else can be taught.
What You’ll Do
Oversee daily kitchen operations for our Eastern Mediterranean cuisine (Europe, Middle East, and North Africa)
Work alongside Nick to develop and execute our menu
Train and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring consistent quality across all dishes
Manage line prep, coordinate service flow, and maintain high standards for food and hospitality
Assist with inventory management, ordering, and recipe development
Lead by example during service—work the line, step in where needed, ensure smooth operations
Support front‑of‑house service when needed in our cross‑functional environment
Help establish kitchen systems and training protocols for our second location
Requirements
Must Have:
3 years of professional cooking experience
Strong cooking fundamentals and knife skills
Genuine desire to serve others and create positive experiences
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining quality and warm hospitality
Leadership experience training and motivating others
Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams
Commitment to clean, safe, and sanitary food service
Excellent organizational skills, multitasking ability, and attention to detail
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
Nice To Have:
Previous sous chef or kitchen leadership experience
Interest in or knowledge of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, or Eastern Mediterranean cuisine
Experience with menu development, costing, and inventory management
Comfort with both back‑of‑house operations and guest interaction
What We Offer
Significant opportunities to participate in menu development and daily improvements
Fast‑paced but supportive environment where your leadership and culinary voice are valued
Staff meals and regular treats in our creative, joyful space
Real Growth Opportunity
Potential for advancement into executive leadership roles as we expand to our second location in Kendall Square
Ready to Apply? If you’ve read this far and you’re as interested (or more interested) than when you started, we’d love to hear from you.
