What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Review and evaluate hospital outpatient medical record documentation for accurate coding
Assign, validate, and edit ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT codes for various patient types
Maintain established productivity and accuracy standards in coding tasks
What is Required (Qualifications):
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HIM/HIT preferred
3-5 years of experience in acute care observation and/or same day surgery hospital outpatient coding required
Required certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, COC, NHA CBCS, or equivalent coding certification
Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, HCPCS/CPT-4 coding systems
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and customer orientation skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Additional certifications in specialized coding areas
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
Familiarity with data quality standards in coding
Experience in a collaborative healthcare environment
