Princeton based Law Firm seeks a Human Resource Director to lead their HR Team! Responsibilities HR Operations & Compliance
Oversee day-to-day HR operations across multiple states, including California, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local requirements.
Manage I-9 verification, audits, and compliance processes.
Maintain compliance with employment laws, including wage/hour rules, FLSA classifications, leave laws, ADA, OSHA, and privacy regulations.
Partner with leadership to ensure consistent HR practices across all 12 offices.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring for attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.
Develop recruitment strategies to support growth and retention goals.
Build relationships with search firms, law schools, and professional networks.
Onboarding & Offboarding
Develop and execute efficient onboarding processes to integrate new hires across multiple offices.
Coordinate new-hire orientation, systems access, and introduction to firm culture and policies.
Manage offboarding, including exit interviews, compliance documentation, and knowledge transfer.
Benefits Administration
Administer all employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, leaves of absence, and wellness initiatives.
Serve as the primary liaison with benefit brokers and vendors.
Lead open enrollment, benefits communications, and employee education.
Employee Relations
Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR-related matters.
Address and resolve employee concerns, conduct investigations, and provide guidance on performance management.
Promote employee engagement, conflict resolution, and consistent application of policies.
Policy, Handbook & Process Management
Maintain and update the firm’s employee handbook and HR policies, ensuring compliance with multi-state regulations, including California.
Develop and refine HR processes to increase efficiency and support the firm’s strategic goals.
Provide policy training and support for managers and staff.
HR Systems & Reporting
Oversee HRIS administration (Paylocity preferred), ensuring data accuracy and effective reporting.
Generate and analyze HR metrics to support informed decision-making.
Lead technological improvements to automate and enhance HR service delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
7–10+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
Strong knowledge of multi-state employment law, including California.
Demonstrated experience in recruiting, onboarding/offboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR compliance.
Proficiency with Paylocity strongly preferred.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
High level of discretion, professionalism, and judgment.
