Job Summary As a Supervisory Sales Associate you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. You will highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. You will also lead associates, ensuring a positive and productive work environment. Through a continuous learning environment you will stay current on products and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful and professional manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service:
Proactively engage and connect with customers; ask questions and listen to customer needs; direct customers to merchandise, inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card; provide premier service; build respectful relationships; take accountability for actions and outcomes.
Organization:
Maintain store appearance.
Sales:
Cross‑sell products; know store layout; suggest latest trends and current promotions based on customer needs; upsell; use Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash, discounts, gift cards, credit and debit cards; handle cash accurately; complete paperwork, reports and reconciliation.
Inventory:
Perform all inventory processes, check in merchandise, ticket accurately; participate in periodic inventories; secure cash, fixed assets and merchandise; prioritize projects, manage merchandise and inventory.
Dependability:
Adhere to assigned schedule; complete work assignments accurately and completely.
Supervisory Requirements:
Provide effective leadership; train and motivate associates; set a positive example; coach and give feedback; assign work; assist sales associates; provide input to Department Manager on associate performance; may open/close locations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Product Knowledge:
Moderate level; provide training documentation on product features.
Experience:
1–2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Communication Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; read, write and interpret instructional documents; communicate with customers, peers and management; telephone etiquette.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math functions, use calculator, compute percentages and ratios; make change in U.S. currency.
Reasoning Ability:
Multi‑task, attend to customers, remain flexible; work as part of a team and take initiative; defuse escalated exchanges and create win‑win situations.
Physical Demands / Work Environment This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders; vision requirements including near vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting focus; lifting 25–50 lbs; work usually indoors but may be outdoors depending on location.
Other Skills Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.
Work Hours Available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
General Experience 1 year responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work, demonstrating satisfactory performance for the position.
Specialized Experience 1 year progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing the duties that constitute the principal work of the position.
Substitution of Education for Experience College/university or junior college study above high‑school level may be substituted on the basis of one‑half academic year of study for six months of experience. At any level, specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience. Candidates must demonstrate supervisory qualities.
