About this Role: Under general direction of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) II, the SSM I is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the implementation, development, and oversight of the In‑Lieu‑of‑Services (ILOS) options chosen by Managed Care Plans (MCPS) under the California Advancing and Innovating Medi‑Cal (CalAIM) initiative. Under the general direction of the Section Chief, PAS (Health Program Manager 11), and through subordinate supervisory and/or lead staff, the incumbent directs the activities of ILOS program development, implementation, and monitoring of ILOS and various health policy initiatives to improve quality in Medi‑Cal implementation, and monitoring of ILOS and various health policy initiatives to improve quality in Medi‑Cal managed care. In addition, the SSM I performs all supervisory responsibilities, including staff recruitment and retention, assignment and prioritization of work, and review and approval of completed staff work. This classification is advertised as Staff Services Manager I and will be converted to the Supervisor I classification on January 1, 2026.

Desirable Qualifications

Telework Information This position is currently eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in person a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate. The DHCS office location for this position is 1501 Capitol Ave, Sacramento, CA 95814.
