Director of Academics, 2 Hour Learning (Remote)
Remuneration: $200/hour, equivalent to $400,000 per year (40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year). The position is full‑time and requires signing an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as Contractor of Record.
What You Will Be Doing
Develop academic frameworks that translate learning science into actionable guidelines for curriculum design, motivation structures, and application development.
Conduct academic execution reviews with Heads of Academics to ensure school teams remain aligned, accountable, and outcome‑focused.
Combine data analysis, stakeholder interviews, and direct observation into comprehensive ecosystem assessments that identify critical obstacles and recommend concrete solutions.
Maintain strategic coherence through structured planning, continuous feedback mechanisms, and milestone monitoring to sustain focus on learning objectives.
Represent 2 Hour Learning in high‑profile settings, including keynote presentations and engagements with Ministries of Education, to advocate for evidence‑based educational change.
What You Won’t Be Doing
Work on standalone curriculum initiatives that lack broader systemic impact.
Produce theoretical research disconnected from student performance or operational execution.
Transfer accountability for outcomes to mid‑level managers or external consultants.
Rely on institutional prestige or conceptual arguments to persuade skeptical audiences.
Key Responsibilities Expand and refine 2 Hour Learning’s validated academic model by consolidating execution across school sites, elevating leadership standards, and establishing yourself as the authoritative public advocate for rigorous science and proven outcomes.
Basic Requirements
Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Learning Science, Educational Psychology, Instructional Design, or related field.
7+ years leading academic or EdTech teams with evidence of exceptional learning outcomes.
Proven experience applying AI or technology to accelerate learning.
Track record of public thought leadership (media, keynotes, books, or advisory roles).
Strong performance‑management skills with the ability to hold elite peers to a high bar.
Fluent in data interpretation to diagnose learning issues and direct interventions.
Comfortable engaging directly with students, parents, and school leaders.
Nice‑to‑have Requirements
Founded or led an innovative school model, lab school, or high‑performing EdTech venture.
Experience navigating cultural, political, or international education contexts.
Deep familiarity with Bloom’s 2‑Sigma research and other mastery‑learning frameworks.
