Job Overview
Program Supervisor III – Mattress Factory Plant Manager (Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Logistics Division – Wynne Unit). Position located in Huntsville, Texas. Salary: $4,914.99 per month (RET 2.5% less). Exempt status, full‑time, moderate travel, work site visits required. Closing Date: Jan 6, 2026.
Responsibilities
A. Oversees activities of staff within the Mattress Factory; plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates mattress manufacturing operations; conducts inspections and reviews to ensure compliance with agency policies, procedures, and state/federal laws.
B. Participates in the development of program goals and objectives; recommends program guidelines, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; conducts special investigations and program analyses to recommend improvements.
C. Reviews and evaluates raw material requirements; reviews records for machinery and equipment repairs, inventory, order points and quantities; oversees installation of new machinery and equipment; prepares program budget requests; prepares and oversees correspondence and productivity reports.
D. Confers with staff on program issues and problems to identify and implement solutions; coordinates training programs for employees and inmates; maintains liaison with staff, agency management, and outside consumers.
E. Supervises the work of others; provides technical assistance in the program area.
F. Maintains security of tools, machinery, and equipment; responds to emergency situations; performs correctional and custodial support functions; assists in maintaining security of assigned inmates.
G. Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited senior high school or GED.
Experience: Three years full‑time, wage‑earning experience in mattress manufacture, OR six years full‑time, wage‑earning experience in any production or manufacturing operation. Thirty semester hours of college credit may substitute for each year of experience on a year‑for‑year basis, up to a maximum of two years.
Experience: One year full‑time, wage‑earning experience in the supervision of employees or inmates.
Preferred: Correctional custody or law‑enforcement experience.
Knowledge and Skills
Program administration and management principles.
Quality control and inspections in manufacturing processes.
Applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes.
Methods and procedures for the manufacture of mattresses (preferred).
Agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations (preferred).
Clear and concise communication.
Coordination with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
Interpretation and application of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Administrative problem‑solving techniques.
Computer use in a stand‑alone or local area network environment.
Preparation and maintenance of accurate records, files, and reports.
Review of technical data and preparation of technical reports.
Coordination and supervision of multiple manufacturing production lines simultaneously.
Development and evaluation of administrative policies and procedures.
Supervision of others.
Use of machinery and equipment in the assigned area (preferred).

Conditions include working inside, around moving machines, radiant and electrical energy, closely with others, alone, irregular hours, excessive heat, humidity, noise, fumes, smoke, gases, dust, grease, oils, solvents, at heights, on ladders or scaffolding, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used include computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, mattress manufacturing machinery and equipment, hand tools, woodworking equipment, dolly, forklift, pallet jack, telephone, and automobile.
