Job Overview The Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine is looking for Academic Hospitalist Nocturnists (Open‑Rank) to work the night service (7 pm‑7 am) at Tampa General Hospital. The Academic Hospitalist provides inpatient care for patients in an academic medical setting and includes direct patient care, consultation with other staff, interpreting laboratory results, educating medical staff and students, and managing patient flow.
Responsibilities
Clinical: Participate in a faculty group practice with more than 45 hospitalists; teach medical students and supervise residents on inpatient services.
Provide overnight coverage on services including medical transplant patients, general internal medicine, medical consultations, transplant medicine consultations, and co‑management of surgical services (7 pm to 7 am).
Teach medical students and residents in inpatient settings; precept students in ambulatory clerkship.
Report to Chair or other higher level administrator of a State university.
Engage in teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
Academic advising and related activities.
May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Qualifications Minimum:
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate, with demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent.
Maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan and be a medical staff member in good standing at assigned hospitals.
Participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
Preferred:
1‑3 years of physician or hospitalist experience.
Experience with hospital medicine, especially in an academic medical center.
Proven track record in teaching and/or clinical research.
Desire to work as a nocturnist.
