Academic Hospitalist Nocturnist (Open‑Rank)
Location: 12901 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Tampa, FL 33612, United States.
Job Overview The Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine seeks an Academic Hospitalist Nocturnist to provide inpatient care, teaching, and research in an academic medical setting.
Responsibilities include direct patient care, consulting, quality and safety oversight, protocol development, and medical advising.
Responsibilities
Participate in a faculty group practice with more than 45 hospitalists, teach medical students and residents, and supervise residents on inpatient services.
Provide coverage for medical transplant patients, general internal medicine patients, consultations, transplant medicine consultations, and co‑management of surgical services.
Occasionally serve as a nocturnist for overnight coverage on these services, with an appropriate salary differential.
Teach medical students and residents about inpatient and outpatient internal medicine; precept medical students in ambulatory clerkship.
Represent the university in university and statewide committees as needed.
Qualifications
Medical degree from an accredited institution.
Board Certified or Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
Full, unrestricted Florida medical license (or foreign equivalent). Must obtain and maintain the FL license and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals where clinical duties are performed.
Experience: 1–3 years physician or hospitalist experience; experience in hospital medicine; previous experience in an academic medical center; proven track record in teaching and/or clinical research.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
Additional Minimum
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent.
Must obtain and maintain full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals performing clinical duties.
Participation in teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
Subject to Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check.
