Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Provide customers with a remarkable shopping experience by demonstrating and training store associates to deliver excellent customer service.

Achieve department financials (sales, profit & loss, projections, metrics, and analysis) by identifying, defining, and implementing best department practices and optimization strategies.

Directly lead department staff with a focus on accountability and high performance.

Develop department staff through annual appraisals, supervision reports, goal setting, progress reviews, and employee surveys.

Implement visual merchandising and plan standards, emphasizing freshness, productivity, flexibility, and labor efficiency.

Oversee schematic implementation, stocking standards, item‑to‑tag integrity, and back‑room organization.

Manage product rotation, spoils, shrink, and markdowns.

Ensure department cleanliness and overall conditions.

Manage sign and price integrity.

Ensure produce products are prepared according to company guidelines.

Train department staff on procedures, hands‑on safety, and food safety.

Order product using inventory systems, pre‑orders, and seasonal promotion planning.

Analyze and manage product performance to maximize sales and profitability.

Maintain accurate department inventory.

Ensure produce/floral products are prepared for display per policy.

Contribute to overall store conditions, including safety, sanitation, hazardous waste, and protection of assets.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Hiring pay range:

$30.17 – $30.17 per hour.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership/team building, and training skills.

Strong customer service and suggestive selling abilities.

Strong organizational, administrative, financial, and math skills.

Knowledge of department operations and financials, produce and floral products, seasonal produce needs, cooking and recipe trends, department food safety, hazardous material regulations, visual merchandising techniques, professional produce tools, and applicable union contractual language.

Education One year of college (or vocational school or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience).

Experience Two years of Produce Department experience—or current Center Store, Meat, or Bakery Department Manager role.

Other Available to work a variety of required retail hours.

Physical Store environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull, and lift objects; requires lifting up to 40 lbs.
