Key Responsibilities
Lead complex IP litigation matters involving trademark infringement, copyright disputes, counterfeiting, unfair competition, and trade dress claims from inception through trial and appeal.
Manage all phases of federal court litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials.
Conduct strategic legal research and analysis on sophisticated trademark and copyright issues, preparing detailed memoranda and client advisories.
Handle trademark and copyright enforcement matters, including cease and desist letters, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution.
Draft and argue dispositive motions, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and preliminary injunction applications in federal court.
Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses in trademark and copyright litigation matters.
Collaborate with partners and clients on litigation strategy, case development, and cost‑effective resolution approaches.
Support trademark prosecution and portfolio management activities as needed for litigation clients.
Engage with opposing counsel in discovery disputes, settlement conferences, and pre‑trial preparation.
Prepare for and participate in trials, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and courtroom presentations.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA‑accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
Active membership in the Florida Bar and admission to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida (or ability to obtain admission promptly).
3+ years of substantive intellectual property litigation experience with significant focus on trademark and/or copyright disputes.
Demonstrated federal court litigation experience, including motion practice, discovery management, and courtroom appearances.
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills with ability to craft persuasive briefs and legal arguments.
Experience with trademark and copyright enforcement, including familiarity with the Lanham Act, Copyright Act, and relevant IP precedents.
Excellent oral advocacy skills and confidence presenting in court, depositions, and client meetings.
Proven ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
