Key Responsibilities
Manage aviation litigation cases from inception through trial, including aircraft accidents, commercial disputes, contractual matters, and insurance coverage issues
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and appellate briefs for state and federal court proceedings
Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other legal research platforms
Prepare correspondence, opinion letters, and status reports for colleagues and clients
Draft interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery demands
Review and analyze document collections for litigation preparation, including management of eDiscovery processes
Attend and participate in depositions, hearings, oral arguments, mediations, and settlement conferences
Submit filings to federal and state courts, ensuring compliance with all procedural requirements
Collaborate with colleagues across the firm’s domestic and international offices on cross‑border matters
Develop case strategy and provide practical, business‑oriented counsel to clients
Build direct relationships with clients in the aviation, insurance, and international trade sectors
Support the growth of the aviation practice through business development and thought leadership activities
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Admitted to practice law in New York State required
Federal court admission (SDNY, EDNY) strongly preferred
2-5 years of litigation experience at a law firm
Aviation industry experience or strong interest in developing aviation expertise preferred
Excellent analytical and legal writing skills with proven ability to draft persuasive briefs and motions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and team collaboration
Experience with all phases of litigation including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation
Legal research proficiency and ability to analyze complex legal and factual issues
Strong case management and organizational skills
Self‑motivated with entrepreneurial mindset suited to growing practice
Interest in international work and cross‑border litigation matters a plus
