Perioperative Support Associate I - Days - Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital – Lakeland, FL

Orlando Health and Watson Clinic are expanding access to award‑winning specialty care for patients in Polk County and beyond. The new Lakeland Highlands Hospital, a 550,000 sq‑ft, seven‑story, multi‑specialty facility, offers 300+ inpatient beds, 69 emergency and observation beds, 11 operating rooms, dedicated labor and delivery services, a NICU, comprehensive cardiovascular, neurology and oncology services and advanced surgical procedures.

Position Summary
The Perioperative Support Associate I participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team. The primary focus is patient, specimen and equipment transport, OR sanitation and assistance with maintaining unit supply levels.
Responsibilities
Clean stretchers, OR tables, equipment and rooms.
Assist the registered nurse and anesthetist in transporting postoperative patients to the recovery unit.
Perform operating room sanitation tasks.
Stock operating room with supplies.
Check, count and stock supplies (warmers, cabinets, bovies, substerile/supply rooms, linen and bags).
Transport patient specimens, cultures, blood and body fluids to pathology, radiology and the laboratory.
Assist with moving and lifting patients, supplies and equipment.
Report defective material or equipment to supervisor.
Assist with positioning of patients for procedures and perform sterile gloving without contamination.
Transport and deliver items, equipment and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
Maintain reasonable attendance and comply with policies, ADA, FMLA and other standards.
Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Demonstrate self‑direction and accountability for work practice.
Perform duties cost‑efficiently.
Report for duty on time, adhere to rest and lunch breaks, and complete assigned duties efficiently.
Present a consistent professional image.

Function as a member of the interdisciplinary surgical healthcare team in all work settings.

Demonstrate knowledge of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patients served in the perioperative setting.
Qualifications
Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification: Maintain current BLS/HealthCare certification.
