The project will develop a systematic approach to eliminate barriers for individuals attempting to achieve postsecondary education, accomplish career goals, increase employment opportunities, coordinate resources addressing food insecurity, decrease the current poverty status, and other basic‑need challenges within the Great Lakes Bay Region (Bay, Saginaw, and Midland County). VISTA will build capacity by developing sustainable systems, partnerships, and processes that improve students’ access to essential support services. The specific products and services resulting from the VISTA’s efforts will include documented resource guides, outreach plans, and improved coordination structures that strengthen the institution’s long‑term ability to address student needs.
