Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our Finance team. This role will be a critical partner to the Controller in driving financial accuracy, process improvement, and compliance across the company. The Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records and various monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting deliverables. The Assistant Controller is also responsible for supervising the performance and development of the accounting team.
This position is a hybrid role 3 days in person in our Bala Cynwyd, PA office.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the monthly close process to ensure adherence to reporting deadlines.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
Ensure account reconciliations and journal entries are prepared and reviewed in a timely manner.
Oversee maintenance of general ledger and integrity of accounting transactions
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls/policies.
Assist with variance analysis and reporting on key retail metrics (sales, margins, labor, and operating expenses).
Lead efforts to automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual requirements.
Support year-end audit processes and prepare required documentation for external auditors.
Education and Experience
BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
CPA or MBA strongly preferred
Prefer minimum of 7-10 years of corporate accounting experience or combination of public accounting and industry experience
3-5 years of Supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with SAP
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills
The ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting; comfort with change and process transformation
