About the Role
A well-established local companyis seeking a versatile and hands-on IT Generalist to support a growing environment. This role provides comprehensive technical support across end-user, server, network, and core infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can work independently, communicate effectively with users at all levels, and ensure the stability, security, and reliability of the organizations IT operations. This position is fully on-site and requires travel between local Syracuse facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Utilize ticketing systems to manage and resolve support requests in a timely manner.
Perform day-to-day maintenance and administration of physical and virtual servers.
Install, configure, back up, and validate server environments to ensure performance and integrity.
Manage Active Directory within a hybrid environment, including user accounts and permissions.
Support print server administration and enterprise printing systems.
Monitor server performance and troubleshoot reliability issues.
Assist with email administration and maintenance.
Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity issues, including access points.
Apply knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and related networking protocols to resolve issues.
Deploy, update, and support desktop operating systems and applications.
Provide end-user support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and software.
Manage Windows updates, file share permissions, and Exchange administration.
Maintain system documentation, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Support and reinforce organizational security policies and best practices.
Deliver clear, patient, and professional technical assistance to users with varied skill levels.
Participate in a rotating off-hours support schedule.
Qualifications Education Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, networking, or a related field; OR Associate degree in a related discipline plus at least two years of technical support experience.
Experience
3+ years of hands-on experience supporting end-user devices, software, and connectivity.
Experience with server support/administration, Active Directory, and hybrid identity environments.
Experience maintaining desktops, file shares, printers, and Microsoft 365 or Exchange environments.
Experience using IT ticketing systems and documenting procedures.
Technical Skills
Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, identity management, and Windows Server operations.
Understanding of Exchange Online/on-prem and Microsoft 365 tools.
Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and general network troubleshooting.
Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
Soft Skills
Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
High attention to detail and strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing demands.
Professional, patient, and collaborative approach to supporting users and partnering with IT peers.
Certifications Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are preferred but not required.
