Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive AP transformation roadmap, including process standardization, automation, and centralization of operations;
Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of AP technologies, such as automation tools (e.g., AI‑driven invoice processing, OCR, robotic process automation), ERP integrations, and electronic payment systems;
Identify opportunities for process improvements, eliminating manual tasks, reducing errors, and optimizing workflows to achieve faster invoice processing and payment cycles;
Oversee change management efforts, including stakeholder engagement, training programs, and communication strategies to ensure successful adoption of new processes and systems;
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the AP function, such as days payable outstanding (DPO), invoice processing time, error rates, and cost per invoice; drive continuous improvement based on data insights;
Collaborate with procurement, treasury, IT, and vendor management teams to align AP transformation with broader finance and supply chain objectives;
Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements (e.g., Uniform Guidance where applicable), and best practices in fraud prevention and risk management;
Manage vendor relationships during transitions, including onboarding to electronic invoicing and payment portals;
Lead a team of AP professionals (directly or indirectly), fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional development; and
Prepare and present progress reports, business cases, and transformation outcomes to executive leadership.
Proficiencies
Experience in global or multi‑entity environments, including centralization of AP functions;
Familiarity with regulatory compliance in finance (e.g., SOX, federal guidelines);
Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday);
Proven track record of successfully leading AP transformation projects, including system implementations, process reengineering, and automation initiatives in large or complex organizations;
Strong knowledge of AP best practices, emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning in finance), and tools like Concur, Coupa, or similar platforms;
Experience with data analysis, reporting, and using metrics to drive decision‑making;
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and cross‑functional teams;
Superior communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging with senior executives and external stakeholders; and
Demonstrated ability to navigate change management and build collaborative relationships across departments.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree (e.g., MBA) or relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, CAPA) preferred;
10+ years of progressive experience in accounts payable, finance operations, or shared services, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
The salary wage range for this position is a minimum of $125,800 and a maximum of $163,500 annually. The actual pay wage may vary based on experience or other relevant factors. The role is exempt and is not overtime‑pay eligible.
