Join EY as a Strategic Procurement Advisor (Associate Director) in State Government Services. This role focuses on building strategic relationships with client procurement teams to create revenue opportunities and expand EY’s presence.

The Opportunity The Strategic Procurement Advisor (SPA) creates and drives strategic relationships with client procurement leaders, especially the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO). By influencing client procurement teams, the SPA supports the Global Client Services Partner, Client Executive, and Service Line leaders to close new business and expand existing client relationships.
Collaborate with P&CE leaders, GCSPs, and account managers to prioritize accounts and opportunities where SPA services can drive revenue and improve profitability.
Lead account team efforts to develop and execute negotiation strategies for new and existing client accounts.
Provide strategic guidance on contracts, pricing, and terms to support favorable outcomes.
Assess coaching needs and lead training workshops on procurement COE topics for internal teams.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate client procurement needs into strategic solutions.
Serve as primary point of contact for client procurement organizations, building long‑term partnerships.
Conduct market analysis and provide insights on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
Maintain ethical procurement practices and stay informed on industry regulations.
Skills & Attributes for Success
In‑depth knowledge of procurement landscape, IT and business process services, and strategic industry trends.
Strong procurement and negotiations background with direct negotiation experience.
Knowledge of strategic account planning and business development principles.
Understanding of laws, legal codes, and regulations impacting contract terms.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Logical reasoning and decision‑making ability.
What We Look For
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and business development.
Exceptional negotiation skills and experience leading high‑stakes negotiations.
Knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and client relationship management.
Experience presenting at procurement industry events and connections to CPOs.
Proficiency with procurement software, Microsoft Office, and AI technologies.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
Commitment to ethical procurement and sustainability initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Certifications such as CSCP or CPSM preferred.
Experience in consulting or advisory roles and working in large global organizations.
Other Requirements
Travel may be required depending on client location.
May need to work outside normal business hours.
Experience leading virtual teams.
