Base Pay Range:
$14.00/hr – $21.00/hr
Essential Functions
Promptly greet and acknowledge patients, informing MAs and Providers of arrival through Care Cloud appointment status.
Instruct patients to complete medical history and information forms, making necessary corrections to the account and ensuring all authorizations or referrals are attached.
Collect co‑payments, co‑insurances and past‑due balances, explaining financial requirements to patients and referring complex questions to billing.
Evaluate patient financial status and establish payment plans within authority limits.
Accurately complete insurance verification and benefits, notifying patients and supervisors of coverage issues.
Scan new or updated patient information (photo ID, insurance cards, referrals, paperwork) into the system.
Schedule follow‑up appointments, review insurance coverage, and notify patients of required authorizations or referrals.
Maintain knowledge of insurance plans accepted by ASAP.
Communicate with patients in the lobby regarding delays by physicians or providers.
Maintain a secure and accurate cash drawer, balancing daily and closing batch.
Preserve patient confidentiality.
Education
High School Diploma / GED or equivalent.
Preferred: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or LPN license.
Experience
Medical office experience preferred.
Minimum one year of patient registration experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
Knowledge of insurance rules, medical terminology, and computer scheduling systems.
Effective communication skills with physicians, patients and public; ability to build working relationships with internal and external clients.
Knowledge
Healthcare field.
Insurance rules and regulations, including eligibility and referral requirements; ability to verify eligibility for each payer.
Medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
EMR charting and documentation proficiency.
Pain management / medical / surgical best practices.
Medical office policies and procedures.
