Metrology Technician | Portage, MI Salary Range: $54,000 - $81,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Calibrate and maintain precision measuring equipment and instruments.

Perform dimensional inspections of manufactured parts, tools, and fixtures.

Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other advanced metrology systems.

Analyze measurement data and generate detailed inspection reports.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to measurement accuracy and equipment performance.

Maintain accurate documentation of calibration records, inspection results, and equipment history.

Provide technical support and training on metrology principles and equipment usage.

Recommended Qualifications

Associate's degree in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Hands‑on experience operating a wide range of precision measuring instruments, including CMMs.

Demonstrated experience with CMM programming and measurement data analysis software.

Strong understanding of metrology principles, calibration processes, and quality standards.

Bonus Qualifications

Proficiency in CMM or Vision System programming (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, OGP Measure-X).

Advanced understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), potentially with certification.

Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis software.

Familiarity with CAD software for model‑based inspection or programming.

Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO/IEC 17025.
