Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) seeks a professional and efficient Payroll and Leave Administrator. This position is part of the Human Resources Department and is responsible for managing and processing employee payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and State/VCCS policies.

The Payroll and Leave Administrator will also oversee leave administration, monitoring and reconciling employee leave accruals and balances, while providing guidance on leave entitlements and policies. The role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to resolve payroll and leave related issues promptly.

Key responsibilities include:

Coordinating entire college payroll, collaborating closely with the VCCS Shared Services Center (SSC) to ensure accurate payroll processing.

Reconciling out-of-state taxes and related required reporting.

Reconciling, updating, and submitting third‑party benefit billing and/or payments.

Completing various routine and ad‑hoc payroll and leave reports.

Consistently monitoring wage employee hours to ensure compliance with ACA guidelines.

Serving as the college’s TLAM (Time, Labor, and Absence Management) Administrator.

Reviewing queries to ensure all leave and time are submitted & approved properly; resolving any errors and/or exceptions timely.

Routinely auditing leave accruals for employees to ensure accuracy, and researching/resolving any issues.

Assisting employees and managers with any payroll and leave related inquiries.

Ensuring payroll and leave processes and procedures are maintained and updated as needed.

Contributing to the recruitment process, serving as an active participant on College Search Committees.

Other duties as assigned.

Key qualifications and skills include:

Knowledge and experience with payroll and leave principles, practices, and laws.

Demonstrated ability to process confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.

Ability to manage and meet strict deadlines using strong organizational and prioritizing skills.

Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.

Ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels.

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preference for working with numbers and managing and auditing data.

Additional Considerations:

Payroll and leave processing experience.

HRCI and/or SHRM certification.

Prior experience working in HR or with payroll and/or leave processing, specifically for a Virginia state agency.

Experience with HCM, including PeopleSoft.
