Registered Nurses in the Surgical Oncology unit provide care for surgical oncology and hospice patients. Patient conditions include post‑surgical and end‑of‑life scenarios. RNs on this unit provide care to patients who are moderately stable with fluctuating acuity, complex needs, and require comprehensive care. Primary Responsibilities

Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care. Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction. Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant). Adhere to University policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations. Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes. Required Qualifications

Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or active compact state RN license in good standing. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment. Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. Must be able to work three 12‑hour shifts per week, including some weekends and holidays. Preferred Education/Experience

BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of Maslow’s Eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework, and Swanson’s Caring Model. Superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills. Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet. Effective professional communication with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians. Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills. Highly motivated, proactive, and confident in patient advocacy. Team‑oriented with excellent collaboration and independent work capabilities. Application Deadline
