Required License/Registration/Certification : Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.

Physical Requirements : Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily; stand, walk, sit long periods; potential exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.

Shift : Three 12-hour DAY shifts per week 7AM-7:30PM; also some weekend and holidays.

Job Summary RNs in the Behavioral Health unit provide care to psychiatric patients of all ages. Patient conditions include a wide range of acute psychiatric illnesses, including bipolar disorder, substance abuse, ADHD, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, PTSD, and depressive disorders. RNs provide coverage for Psychiatric Intake through the Emergency Department. The unit offers therapeutic care in a safe, non‑threatening environment with high expectations of customer satisfaction. As part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the behavioral health team, responsible for independently delivering comprehensive client care, developing and implementing plans of care, facilitating therapeutic groups, and demonstrating effective therapeutic techniques.

Primary Responsibilities The primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care comprising assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching, development, and evaluation of a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants); and adhering to university policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations. Collaboration with nursing staff and physicians enhances communication and expected patient outcomes.

Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.

Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.

Professional and respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.

Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.

Highly motivated, proactive, confident in patient advocacy.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Education / Experience BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience preferred.
