Department of Surgery at UCI Health Sciences School of Medicine. Responsibilities

Provide independent, team‑oriented inpatient care of surgical patients in a new hospital. Manage general surgery and specialty surgical services at all levels of care, including the intensive care unit. Evaluate care, order diagnostics, create treatment plans, and participate in inpatient sign‑out and hand‑off at beginning and end of shift. Communicate with surgery teams/residents/attending physicians and conduct surgical consultations on potential surgical patients. Participate in resuscitations of surgical patients from the ED and ICU. Coordinate procedures, admit and discharge patients, triage phone calls, review critical labs, obtain comprehensive histories, perform initial and daily physical examinations, and manage hospitalized patients. Demonstrate advanced medical knowledge, clinical competence, sound judgment, professional communication skills, timely documentation, and professional development and competency validation. Qualifications

Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license. Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license. Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Current BLS and ACLS certification. Within six months of hire, ATLS certification. NP National Board Certification (AGACNP‑BC or ACNPC‑AG). Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges before hire. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to prepare clear medical reports and progress notes. Demonstrated customer service skills appropriate to the job and ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility in interacting with physicians, nurses, paramedical personnel, and administrators. Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications and familiarity with UC policies and procedures. Experience in trauma/critical care nursing. Total Rewards
