Building Maint Specialist – South Dakota Board of Regents
Location:
Spearfish, SD
Pay Range:
$26.77/hr – $26.77/hr
Responsibilities
Maintain heating, cooling, HVAC, and boiler systems on campus.
Perform preventive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance and repairs.
Work on all campus HVAC equipment, boilers & boiler controls, water heaters.
Basic energy monitoring on central and remote systems.
Coordinate HVAC work with other maintenance facets.
Qualifications
Minimum of three years HVAC field experience (or three full years of schooling).
Must obtain a required license within 6 months of employment.
Computer literacy, knowledge of mechanical/building codes, basic electrical controls.
Physical ability to lift heavy loads, climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolds.
Willingness to work long, late hours and occasional overtime.
Preferred: Experience with boiler controls.
Experience managing workflow and balancing multiple tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Independent decision‑making with appropriate supervisor consultation.
Professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and public.
Working Hours & Schedule Typical office hours: Monday–Friday 7:00 AM‑4:00 PM. Some nights, weekends, and on‑call rotations are required.
