Job Description and Duties Under the direction of the Caltrans Maintenance Manager II, the Caltrans Maintenance Manager I assists in implementing, evaluating, and sustaining major programs and maintenance policies in the Maintenance Region. Responsibilities include:
Assisting in field operations for the Maintenance Region
Advising and consulting with top‑level district and statewide management
Proposing new programs, directions, or legislation as appropriate
Working irregular shifts, including nights, holidays, weekends, temporary, and intermittent shifts
Responding to emergency situations and calls
Loaned to other cost centers as required
Maintaining die‑hard knowledge of maintenance and construction of highways, structures, facilities, and landscape
Coordinating activities with other programs, maintenance regions, city, and county officials
Articulating program policies and goals to management, staff, and the public

Valid Class C California Driver’s License
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required – typed, no more than two pages, 12‑point Arial font
Unverified qualifications must be supported by unofficial, official, or sealed transcripts; foreign transcripts require U.S. equivalency evaluation
Working Conditions Position located at 11323 Sanders Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95472. Work primarily in a climate‑controlled office but may involve outdoor work in extreme conditions.
