Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor – Complete Streets Crew Job Posting: Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor – Complete Streets Crew (JC‑502766). Under the general direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent, the incumbent coordinates and assigns the work of employees engaged in the maintenance of Complete Streets facilities (sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike ways) of the State highways.

Salary:

$5,401.00 – $7,032.00 per month

(New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable).

Responsibilities

Coordinates and assigns the work of the Complete Streets crew.

Reviews and approves work orders.

Performs site inventory verification and condition assessment of Complete Streets facilities.

Enforces safety, health policies and procedures as contained in the Department’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).

May be required to work overtime, irregular shifts and alternate work schedules including nights, holidays and weekends; may respond to emergency situations and calls.

Operates equipment requiring a class A Commercial Driver’s License with a tank endorsement, trains others, and supervises employees who operate such equipment.

Travels to remove locations and stays overnight to meet department needs.

Working Conditions Position located at District 11/Maintenance Division/West Region, San Diego County.

Required to work in a wide range of sometimes extreme conditions, including heat up to 120 °F, cold to –15 °F, strong winds, rain, sleet, and snow.

Appropriate footwear and sturdy condition; long or short‑sleeved shirts provided by Caltrans, or a safety vest is to be worn over non‑safety shirts or coats.

Long pants; no or cutoffs.

Provided safety gear: hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection devices, face shields, gloves, respirators, chaps, or other safety gear must be worn when required by the Department.

Minimum Requirements (Qualification) A valid, unrestricted Class C driver’s license is required while performing duties associated with maintaining the State Highway system; a valid, unrestricted Class A or B license is desirable to train crew members on commercial equipment.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.

Desirable Qualifications

Possession of a valid Class A or Class B commercial driver license with P (Passenger/Bus), H (Hazardous Materials), and N (Tank Vehicle) endorsements.

Qualified applicator certificate for pesticides issued by CAL‑EPA.
