Academic Clinical Microbiologist Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks a highly motivated faculty member to serve as an Associate Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. This position is open rank and track (tenure‑track, tenured, fixed‑term, or variable track) based on the candidate’s experience. The successful candidate will serve as the Director of Bacteriology and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing for UNC Health Care, provide technical expertise at a health care system level, and collaborate closely with pediatric and adult infectious disease services, hospital epidemiology and infection control, and other clinical services. The faculty member will be actively involved in teaching medical students, graduate students, residents, and fellows, and will have access to exceptional clinical and translational research opportunities through strong interdisciplinary teams.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

PhD, MD, or MD/PhD.

Board certified or board eligible in Medical Microbiology by either the American Board of Medical Microbiology or the American Board of Pathology.

Candidates should have a demonstrated record of academic achievement through independent or collaborative research and scholarly publications.
