Job Overview Senior Structural Engineer in the New Jersey/NYC area. Full‑time permanent role at a well‑known engineering service firm that delivers heavy civil projects across the tri‑state area, including rail, airports (JFK), and critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design, plan, and oversee construction of structural components, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Collaborate with architects, construction managers, and other engineers to determine project specifications.
Conduct site investigations to gather data for planning and design.
Prepare technical reports, designs, and drawings using AutoCAD 3D.
Perform geotechnical analysis and foundation design.
Ensure all projects comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and laws.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and other team members.
Manage risk and mitigate potential project delays or cost overruns.
Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates.
Continuously update knowledge and expertise in structural engineering and construction methodologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
Professional Engineering (P.E.) license required (New York, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey preferred).
Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or equivalent certification a plus.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry, specifically in structural engineering.
Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D and other engineering software.
Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and practices.
