Diet Clerk - Full Time - Day

Hackensack Meridian Health
is responsible for obtaining meal selections using the computer automated system, assisting in the dish room, delivering patient trays, and performing floor stock duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Assist patients in completing menu selections in compliance with prescribed diet as assigned by dietitian.
Offer alternatives to menu as allowed on prescribed diet in accordance with food allergies, sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.
Answer phone with excellent customer service to take patient orders in accordance with food allergies, sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.
Distribute and collect menus.
Plan regular and modified menus based on current diet manual.
Prepare and distribute supplements, tube feedings, and enteral formula accurately and timely.
Adhere to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies.
Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO.
Complete all required documentation, reports, and logs.
Follow facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Effective communication skills and strong customer service aptitude.
Literate to the extent of reading and understanding printed menus and diet restrictions.
Basic knowledge of food handling techniques.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
Must possess necessary skills to operate hospital admission, discharge, transfer, and other computer-based patient-care record systems.
Preferred: One (1) year experience in food service.
Compensation and Benefits Starting at $17.32 hourly, with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Compensation is benchmarked against market data to ensure competitiveness.
