Job Summary Our Bend maintenance crew needs a leader to support and guide maintenance workers while repairing and maintaining roadways, highways, bridges, and structures. In this role, you will work closely with the maintenance manager to plan, assign, and oversee work performed by the maintenance crew.
Day in the Life
Plan, prioritize, schedule and assign work based on availability of materials, equipment and staff resources.
Advise and guide employees in effective performance and resolve work related issues.
Patrol highways and structures looking for hazards and damage.
Respond to incidents and emergencies and provide traffic control.
Provide new employee orientation including training on heavy and light equipment and material handling.
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment by scheduling repairs and services with vendors.
Assist the transportation maintenance manager with short‑ and long‑range planning and budget preparation.
Participate as a member of the district operations team coordinating district‑wide resources.
Review work of the crew to ensure it meets standards, policies and procedures.
Prepare, review, and sign various documents.
Exposure to noise, extreme heights, all weather conditions, heavy equipment, pesticides and hazardous waste.
Can move around rough terrain, bend and stoop for extended periods and lift up to 60 lbs.
May need to be available after hours, on weekends and holidays for emergency, on‑call and weather related purposes.

Special Qualifications
CDL‑A required: must hold a commercial driver’s license A with no air brake, 5th wheel, or manual transmission restrictions and obtain a tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire.
Valid driver license and acceptable driving record required.
Must be able to handle Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requirements.

Basic computer skills and documentation coordination.
Understanding of highway maintenance operations and safety procedures.
Experience operating construction or maintenance machinery and overseeing projects.
Leadership and teamwork experience with diverse groups.
