Position Overview Senior Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. The technician shares knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators, and acts as a subject‑matter expert in at least one of the following areas: injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, stretch wrappers, chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, and other water filtration equipment. The technician works directly with maintenance technicians, machine operators, supervisors, and managers to resolve mechanical issues. Through preventative and predictive maintenance processes, the technician champions continuous improvement efforts and assists with training in their designated focus areas.

Essential Functions

Adhere to and enforce highest standards in safety and good manufacturing practices plant‑wide.

Train and lead operators, mechanics, and supervisors on technical procedures related to high‑speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.

Work directly with plant leadership to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and resolution of recurring problems.

Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize downtime with root‑cause analysis to prevent re‑occurrence.

Partner with other senior maintenance technicians to resolve cross‑functional problems.

Use available software systems to analyze and identify issues to drive throughput performance.

Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment to like‑new status during planned downtime.

Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in the following areas of bottling production specialization: blow molding, filling/capping, labeling technology, dry‑end packaging.

Set up and maintain all pack size changes and common OEM equipment such as Krones, Sidel, KHS, Sacmi, and Tech Long.

Act as technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center.

Maintain regular attendance and required on‑call availability to ensure equipment and facility uptime.

Stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs; bring own toolbox and basic tools.

Qualifications

Minimum 6 years’ experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment and 4 years of experience managing people/projects.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments and levels.

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.

Proficiency with shop equipment such as hydraulic presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, and assorted power tools.

Proficient with precision measuring equipment (calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges).

Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center.

Preferred: 10+ years’ experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment; 6 years’ experience managing people/projects.

Preferred: 4 years’ experience with blow molding, injection molding, packaging, or beverage; 4 years’ experience with Krones, Husky, Sidel, or other bottling equipment.

Preferred: 1 year of experience leading and developing others on equipment functionality and repair.

Preferred: 2 years of experience creating process improvements or continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred: Skilled in fabrication capabilities such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick); skilled in electrical systems including 480 VAC & 24 VDC power.

Preferred: Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams.

Preferred: Skilled in repairing variable frequency drives, servo motors, controllers, communication systems (AS/IB, CAN/IB, Profi/IB, Ethernet), PLC I/O cards, and safety modules.
