Summary Under the direction of the Supervisor and Team Leaders’ instructions, this position will conduct safe, efficient vehicle movement and parking as well as prepare new factory‑condition vehicles for various stages of logistics processing.
Responsibilities
Drive new finished‑product vehicles to designated locations
Drive and park vehicles per the Transportation & Handling Manual
Drive vehicles following a set schedule or route
Maintain stamina to sit for several hours and operate vehicles safely
Maintain constant contact with the Team Leader and keep track of pickup and drop‑off locations
Inspect vehicles before driving to ensure they are damage‑free and functioning correctly
Follow all Port traffic policies and posted speed limits
Report any unsafe conditions or road hazards
Document and report mechanical difficulties or damage
Read and understand parking location maps
Prepare vehicles for various stages of processing
Perform tire pressure checks with a hand‑held gauge
Conduct battery condition checks with hand‑held equipment
Drive vehicles on/off conveyors
Remove exterior/interior plastic protective wrap
Drive vehicles to fueling stations and through automated car washes
Remove trash from vehicles
Complete required checklists
Perform other duties as assigned under Shuttle Driver
Driver, FIL Driver, UBC‑Plant Driver, Shuttle‑Plant‑UBC, Shuttle‑UBC‑Storage, PIO, VPC, Conveyor Driver, PIO Driver, Van Driver, and other duties
Skills
Willing and able to cross‑train in other departmental needs – Required
Flexible with schedule, including break times, extended hours, weekends, and holidays – Required
Ability to read and write – Required
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions – Required
Good depth perception and hand‑eye coordination – Required
Ability to drive both automatic and straight‑shift vehicles – Required
Ability to record and verify numbers up to 17 characters in length – Required
Demonstrated mechanical abilities – Required
General knowledge of automobile components – Required
Education & Experience
High School Diploma/G.E.D – Required
Valid state‑issued driver’s license without restrictions – Required
1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience – Required
Experience in mechanical, installation experience in a port‑processing environment – Preferred
