Position Details
Division: Academic Affairs Department: Office of Global Engagement Working Title: ESL Instructor – 2025 Vacancy Type: Part‑time Temporary FTE: 0.5 Months per Year: 9 Work Schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday (flexible)
Primary Purpose of Position Provide ESL instruction to foreign‑language students enrolled in the English Language Institute.
Job Description The English Language Institute provides English language training for students who wish to study at U.S. colleges and universities. Part‑time ESL Instructor will teach skill‑based ESL classes between 10 and up to 20 hours per week. Other responsibilities include curriculum development, record keeping, text selection, test administration, participation in orientations and end‑of‑term ceremonies. The position is contingent on student enrollments in the English Language Institute.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Applied Linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL certificate or a closely related field and one year of experience teaching English as a Second Language in a university setting. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in TESL, Applied Linguistics or a closely related field.
Recruitment Range
– up to $50.00 per hour, depending on experience Number of Vacancies: 2 Position #: SHAA43 FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
