Texas Certified Special Education Secondary Content ELA Teacher The Monarch School and Institute is dedicated to providing an innovative, therapeutic education for individuals with neurological differences—such as those associated with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder, learning disabilities, Tourette syndrome, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injury, and seizure disorders. We offer a learner-centered approach that helps students progress in Four Core Goal areas. The Professional Educator is responsible for implementing the Monarch Integrated Mythology to strengthen relationship development with all students. Their primary responsibility is to support student growth in each of the four core goals of The Monarch School. REPORTS TO THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR EDUCATION Valid Teaching Certification to meet state requirements — the certificate is to be uploaded with your application. Certification in Special Education — the certificate is to be uploaded with your application. Certification in grade-appropriate (e.g., 6-12) secondary English Language Arts (ELA) — the certificate is to be uploaded with your application. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Teacher with sufficient time spent in the teaching of special education (preferred). EXPECTATIONS Professional Educators will learn and implement the Monarch Integrated Methodology to strengthen relationship development with all students. Work collaboratively with the Therapy Services department and Therapeutic Support faculty to ensure consistent language, actions, and experiences supporting students’ therapeutic needs. Develop and implement student treatment plans in collaboration with relevant staff. Learn and apply curriculum models such as social mapping, cognitive coaching, relationship development (DIR), sensory integration, reflective teaching, problem-based learning, and academic focus areas. Implement instructional strategies and programs as directed by academic leadership. Design and deliver lessons tailored to individual differences and learning styles. Support and coordinate students’ therapeutic agendas in collaboration with the Leadership Team. Report student progress regularly and in a timely manner. Supervise students at all times, including during lunch, carpool, off-campus activities, and community meetings. Facilitate a Student Committee, if assigned. Support extracurricular and social events to build community. Collaborate with the Program Director to set and achieve yearly goals. Participate in professional development activities as directed. Familiarize with and reference the Faculty and Parent/Student Handbooks. Punctually attend staff meetings, faculty meetings, and in-services. Perform other duties as assigned. SKILLS Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Support and embody the school's philosophy, goals, and vision. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Google Apps, web-based learning tools, and Promethean boards. WORKING CONDITIONS The role involves working under various challenges and deadlines. The ideal candidate should perform well under pressure, remain calm, and be an effective problem solver. The position may involve physical activity, including lifting up to 40 pounds, standing, kneeling, stooping, and moving classroom or adaptive equipment.
