Accounting Officer (Specialist)
Salary:
$5,266.00 - $6,591.00 per Month

Sacramento, CA (Downtown Sacramento, near Light Rail and K Street Mall)

Responsibilities
Perform professional accounting duties of average difficulty, including Accounts Payable payment processing functions.
Analyze and reconcile accounts payable files and resolve payment discrepancies with program units, vendors, and the State Controller’s Office (SCO).
Post accounting transactions in the FI$Cal system and correct journal entries as required.
Maintain large Excel spreadsheets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Exercise moderate control over the administration of established policies and procedures.
Collaborate with management, control agencies, other government offices, vendors, and the public.
Work during peak activity periods (typically June to August) and be prepared for mandatory overtime.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of principles and practices to promote outstanding customer service.
Ability to prepare procedures and guidelines for the unit to reflect current processing with fiscal control and security.
Excellent organization and time‑management skills.
Independent judgment and initiative.
Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, state accounting rules, and regulations.
Experience in payment processing and accounts reconciliation.
Ability to analyze and resolve payment discrepancies/delays promptly.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Experience performing and assisting with year‑end duties.
Proficiency with the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal).
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong interpersonal skills.
Self‑motivation and enthusiasm.
Basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Good attendance.
