The Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine seeks multiple full‑time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant) positions to provide daytime and nighttime coverage within the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of the University of Colorado Hospital. Responsibilities include assessing and managing patients with pulmonary and critical illness, working in collaboration with physicians and trainees, performing invasive procedures, providing cross‑coverage to other service lines, supporting the educational mission, and other duties as assigned by the Lead Advanced Practice Provider or the Associate Chair for Clinical Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
Inpatient evaluation and management of acute and critically ill patients with complex medical and pulmonary diseases.
Staff the Medical Intensive Care Unit and/or Medical Surgical Progressive Care Unit.
Order and interpret tests and evaluations for patient management.
Collaborate with consulting services on patient management.
Perform invasive procedures with appropriate credentials.
Provide cross‑coverage for other service lines within the Division as needed (e.g., Pulmonary Hypertension, Pulmonary Embolism Response Team).
Staff other service lines within the Division as needed (e.g., pulmonary consults, critical care consults, Rapid Response Team).
Support the educational mission of the division.
Other duties assigned by the Lead Advanced Practice Provider and/or the Associate Chair for Clinical Affairs.

Instructor
– Master’s degree; NP must be board certified or board eligible in acute care; PA must have acute/critical care experience; licensed in Colorado; certified to see adolescents and adults.

– Master’s degree; current or past senior instructor appointment; NP must be board certified or board eligible in acute care; PA must have acute/critical care experience; licensed in Colorado; certified to see adolescents and adults.
Assistant Professor
– Doctor of Nursing or Dr. of Medical Science (DMSc) degree or equivalent; current or past assistant professor appointment; NP must be board certified or board eligible in acute care; PA must have acute/critical care experience; licensed in Colorado; certified to see adolescents and adults.
Associate Professor
– Doctor of Nursing or Dr. of Medical Science (DMSc) degree or equivalent; current or past associate professor appointment; NP must be board certified or board eligible in acute care; PA must have acute/critical care experience; licensed in Colorado; certified to see adolescents and adults.
Preferred Qualifications
General Internal Medicine knowledge base (advanced lung disease and critical illness‑related specialized knowledge desirable but not required).
Pulmonary Medicine, Intensive Care, or Subspecialty background preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication skills to interact with multiple medical providers and disciplines.
Excellent bedside manner and physical exam skills.
