About PC&PF Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. This department ensures all of the hospital's facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with accreditation standards. It fosters an environment of growth and professional development by cultivating the skills necessary to oversee the vital maintenance operations needed throughout the institution. PC&PF also plays a longitudinal role for the institution in overseeing the construction of new facilities and the modernization of existing buildings through new software and monitoring initiatives. All of this makes PC&PF a vital and integral department in delivering world class cancer care to patients.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure efficiency and productivity.
Supervises daily workload of Craft and Maintenance Technicians.
Supervises effective preventive maintenance (PM) processes on all assigned infrastructure and utility systems to provide safe and reliable utility systems; improves PM processes and frequencies to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
Ensures accurate information is posted on Labor & Materials used on work completed on all A and PM work orders.
Monitors service contracts and negotiates with vendors/contractors.
Plans and consults in designing and initiating repairs, remodeling, and construction projects when assigned.
Supervises special systems (pneumatic tubes, trash and linen systems as assigned).
Maintains assigned operating budget within +/- 2% variance and manages overtime to stay within guidelines.
Provides lead support of the Energy Initiative.
Manages customer response and Joint Commission (JC) compliance support; communicates daily with customers to assure quality service with minimal callbacks; collaborates with other shifts and departments; supervises outages on their shift.
Provides lead support to the EOC program and supports all initiatives associated with Joint Commission readiness (ready every day).
Manages employee workload, documents staff performance, tracks metrics, and schedules work for front-line staff; supervises shift coverage and hand-off of backlog to the next shift.
Works with Planner/Scheduler and WCC team; tracks workload and schedule compliance; oversees work orders status and asset management; ensures daily time sheets are accurate and reviews metrics to meet performance expectations.
Provides input on hiring, evaluations, promotions; ensures employees complete training and meet goals.
Other duties as assigned. Employee is considered essential personnel for all emergency events and agrees to fulfill responsibilities associated with signing the agreement.

Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred:
Associate's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
Work Experience
Required:
Five years in one or more craft areas including three years lead/supervisory experience.
Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
Preferred:
Ability to work within the Microsoft Windows environment and experience in a CMMS environment. Healthcare experience and/or supervisory experience in facilities or maintenance.
Licenses & Certifications
Preferred:
Texas Driver's License (Class A, B or C) and eligibility to drive state/institutional vehicles.
Preferred:
Journeyman's license in one craft.
Other Requirements Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
