Job Summary Cal State Fullerton’s College of Education, the largest teacher credentialing institution in California, invites a dynamic Administrative Support Coordinator I to join its Educational Leadership team. The role supports faculty, staff, and students across master’s, credential, and doctoral programs by managing administrative, financial, and technical functions and coordinating events, budgets, and resources. The successful candidate will be a positive, ethical, and inclusive professional who thrives in a collaborative, student‑centered environment.
About the Position The Coordinator will work under general supervision to provide a full range of services for a department serving ~300 students. Key responsibilities include: scheduling and room reservations; event planning for meetings, professional development, retreats, and special initiatives; hiring, training, and supervising student assistants; confidential support for student and faculty needs; inventory and procurement of office supplies and technology; data analysis and reporting; budget maintenance for multiple accounts; reconciliation of operating expenses; mileage reimbursements; and maintenance of department website and information technology coordination. The Coordinator also assists the chair with reporting to senior administration and external agencies, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent with four years of progressively responsible office or clerical experience. • Thorough knowledge of university policies, procedures, and English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. • Competence with office systems and a range of technology and software packages. • Ability to handle multiple priorities and apply policies where guidelines may not exist. • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures, including basic business math and financial reporting. • Strong written communication skills for drafting correspondence and reports. • Ability to manage interpersonal contacts at all levels with sensitivity and discretion. • Completion of a satisfactory background check, including criminal records.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience in higher education, especially post‑graduate programs or large academic departments. • Familiarity with a content management system (CMS). • Knowledge of California State University, Fullerton’s budget policies and procedures. • Experience supervising student assistants. • Strong customer service orientation and quick learning of policies and procedures.
